6.2 Sightings
* Summer, 2005 *
The summer months have been very active months in Missions
work for our HCC Family, both here in our community and into our world.
Check out this list of sightings at various activities. (Due to the
abundance of God’s Love shared, you will mostly see a list of names, please
feel free to ask any of these individuals about their experiences for more
details.)
Sighting # 1: During the month of June, many of our
children and youth were going off to Camp! These helpers brought the Love of Christ to
these young people: the entire Csikos Family (Bob, Gretchen, Andrew, Abigail, Lydia),
Theresa and Austin Aberle, Ryan
and Karen Brewer, Lora Snell, Jessa Cornett, Sara
Hendrix, and Amanda Monell. Several of these folks worked two or more
weeks. Driving the bus, we also had Mike
LeFevre and Alan Anderson,
with Debbie Anderson
chaperoning.
Sighting # 2: VBS, WOW (that is the best way to describe
it)! I am sure you have heard various reports on this, but now you’ll know
who volunteered:

We even had 4 volunteers come with the group from The
Harris Home. All of these servants did everything from outdoor prep to
registration to decorations to cooking to storytelling to crafts to leading
a crew. With VBS there are jobs to fit everyone’s gifts and time schedules.
This list does not even include all of those who supplied food for the
lunches.
Sighting # 3: During the day, we had VBS at HCC and then in
the evening we helped with the VBS for the Hispanic community held at
Decatur Christian Church. Spotted in
Decatur were Raul and Julie Muytoy, Gretchen, Andrew, Abigail, and Bob Csikos, Jim and Helen Biard, Matt and Lauren Freels,
Emily Naderi (her knowledge of
the Spanish language was a great asset as she assisted in the preschool
class), Casey Highfield and Kayley Wilson. Many of these
servants pulled double duty this week. That is truly
Sighting # 4: At the last minute, Julie Muytoy, agreed to chaperone the girls of the youth group
at the church where she works. On a Monday the scheduled chaperone had to
drop out of a mission trip leaving the following Saturday. Following God’s plan, Julie was able to
experience serving a poor community in Reynosa, Mexico.
Sighting #5: Recently, Gwendolyn Hardin coordinated a
Housewarming for our Habitat Family, the Briggs. Brother Bill Payne opened the event with prayer. Martha
Wheat, Bobbie McFarling, Pauline Hopkinson, Ellen
Burchfield, Angie Harris and
Lisa Dunn mastered the setup,
food preparation and serving, as well as cleanup. One of the compliments received was,
“The food was exquisite!” Samantra’s
mother commented numerous times about how much HCC, as a church family, has
done for her daughter and she really appreciates the love shown to her
entire family. Samantra and Gwen
thank everyone for their generosity and Christian Love.
