6.2 Sightings
* February, 2006 *
Our sighting for January is
our own HCC Youth. WOW! That is the
description I would give to our Dinner and Talent Show. Our SD Youth
Mission Team is serious about their mission. They are working hard to raise their
funds and God is working in their lives as they do, and the rest of the
youth group has joined in to help. Even those who are not going on the trip
are committed to helping their friends get there. Now, that is community. Then there are
YOU, our HCC Family. From bringing food
to washing dishes, to performing in the talent show, and being our
encouragers and financial supporters, thank you for helping us raise
$540.36. We are a community made for a mission.
It’s time again to ‘Rock the Foundation’
… this time in Louisiana
This mission trip is planned for March 18 – 26, 2006.
Please pray our Lord will put together a team of 10-20
people for the following mission in support of Katrina victims.
If you’ve ever worked at a Habitat for Humanity site,
you will enjoy this ministry!
For information, please check the following web-site: http://mandevillechristianchurch.org/
Click on the Katrina link, then view Images from
Christian Church of Slidell,
LA. This is the area where we will
be working. Joe Major, minister at Mandeville, LA (not Los Angeles, not Lower Alabama, but Louisiana) is our point of contact.
It will take us approximately 7 hours to get to
Mandeville from Huntsville.
The church has been converted to house volunteers,
including those of us from HCC.
Bring a sleeping bag and an air mattress. It will be like going to summer camp! Showers are available in the building.
Don’t worry about getting hungry! The church also has a full kitchen
available and food cost is a mere $10.00/person daily. We are looking for two pair of hands to
help with cooking for our group and to provide assistance to the ladies at
Mandeville Christian.
Opportunities to serve include dry-wall type of work
(taping and mudding). We will have
more specifics about two weeks prior to our trip. Bring tools to support the job(s) we are
doing.
There are numerous opportunities to serve and it looks
like Slidell
has the greatest need.
Also, please pray that college-age folks are willing to
go.
The total cost of the trip is about $100.00 for food and
transportation … scholarships are available.
If you have any questions or would like more
information, contact Edber Fonnegra.
Stay tuned for more information.
