6.2 Sightings
* February, 2007 *
Sighting # 1: In
December, the Just Older Youth (JOY) Group celebrated the birth of Christ
through fellowship sharing and ministering to youth in our region by
collecting Toys for Tots. Jim and Ina Snell and Jean
and Harold Clevenger coordinated
the event. Nearly 85 HCC friends and
guests gathered for a meal and enjoyed entertainment by our very own “Jimmy
and the Jammers”. This year the
“Jammerettes” also contributed to the music of the season. HCC participants placed toys under the
tree, for later delivery to the Toys for Tots program.
Sighting # 2: Monica Reier has recently been
touched by her big sister’s (Theresa)
involvement in the upcoming Mission trip to Mexico City. In fact, Monica checked out a book from
the school library to learn more about Mexico. She has been telling
her big sister facts about the country. Monica has also been collecting
fast food toys to donate to the orphanage in Mexico City.
Sighting # 3: Recently,
an HCC Drama team performed at a Church
Of Christ in Birmingham for a special event. The
church honored them with a gift and they chose to donate part of their gift
to Missions. Wow, that is truly a biblically functioning community when we
share our gifts in support of one another and in fulfilling the great
commission. Those who participated are Joe Harris, Angie Slaughter, Jim Bliffen, Joni Bliffen,
Michelle Roberts, Richard Monell, Alex Snell, and Derrick Roberts.
Sighting # 4: Shelby
Kean will be jumping rope for the American Heart Association. She is
raising funds for important Heart Health research. Way to go Shelby!
Niños de México Trip Update:
To our HCC Family, you are
awesome!! We are so thankful for
your generous support of our 2007 mission trip. From helping with food,
inviting friends, participating in the show, cleaning up, and donating
funds, your support was wonderful and very much appreciated. The dinner and
talent show donations totaled $1,191, WOW! Thank you from the Niños de
México Mission Team. Mick O’Hanahan,
Development Director for Niños de México attended the talent show and he
was amazed at the talent that our church family has been gifted and blessed
with.
The Niños
de México Mission Team is pleased to
announce the addition of Catherine
Case to our team. We are very excited that God has called her to serve
on our team and look forward to seeing how her gift of acting and creating
skits will enhance our work in Mexico.
Other Ways you
can help:
Be sure to attend the Heartfelt Banquet and donate or
buy a cake. Proceeds from the Cake
Auction will support the Niños de México Mission Team.
Easter baskets will also be returning this year. Watch
our publications for the ways you can participate in this project. All proceeds
from this silent auction will support the 2007 mission trip.
Are you spring cleaning and have boxes and bags of
items to give away. Well, we have a deal for you! We have a consignment
account set up with Country Treasures at 4019 Old Railroad Bed road,
Harvest, to raise funds for our Niños de México Mission trip. All donations
