The role of the Involvement Ministry is to provide
movement from being a guest at HCC to becoming part of the family. We are
working to make a clear and strategic path for guests to follow. This past
year we took two specific areas of ministry from the Evangelism team to
help provide a flow in guiding guest: First Touch and the Cookie ministry.
First Touch is
the ministry that greets everyone each Sunday morning. This ministry is
working hard to make next steps in its main goal of guiding guest from
their car to a relational connection. You are seeing and hearing about the
changes in this ministry to help our church family become a more friendly environment on Sunday mornings for our
guest.
The Cookie
ministry is part of the path in helping our guest decide if this is the
church to call home. We are currently discussing ways to make this ministry
more relational. Look for changes here and ask God if making friends with
our guest is how He may want you to serve.
Additional
responsibilities of the Involvement team in providing a path from being a
guest to being a part of the family are the LIFE 2.0 process. This is a
series of classes that helps to explain Huntsville Christian Church views
on belonging to Jesus and to this local church. How to mature in your faith
through foundational habits that will connect you closer to Jesus.
We also want
you to experience God’s love and grace through service. When we serve
others motivated by our love for God we become more like Jesus while we
help others become more like Jesus. Our team is working with other ministry
teams to have meaningful places to serve. We do not do all the recruitment,
but we are working to help people grow through service. This past year saw
over 20 people connected to a new area of service.
We also worked
closely with the Operations ministry team as a prototype of organizing the
team around seven principles. These principles can be implemented as
practices to keep the team on target and grow disciples while serving
others. If this works the way we believe it will we will be helping the
other teams consider this structure for their ministries as well.
Our team also
oversees the small group ministries. There are numerous ways to define and
organize small groups. We are still experimenting with this. Currently we
have five Community groups – relational groups that help their members
pursue spiritual maturity and experience authentic community. We will have
more of these groups by the fall.
God is good. We
pray that each of us will follow Jesus and His Spirit more closely and be
INVOLVED with Him in the ministry He has equipped us for and led us to.
