As we strive to
live in the Biblically Functioning Community, it is good to come together
as a body and fellowship with one another. The Fellowship and Caring
Ministry arranged several events throughout the year to promote bringing
the body together to enable every one to meet and get to know others in the
Family. During the past year, the following events were hosted by this
ministry:
Church Picnic in September 2006.
Over 100 members and friends came to enjoy the activities and food. The new
volleyball pit was quickly taken over by the toddlers and many sand castles
were created.
Christmas Banquet in December. A
large crowd participated in the Christmas Banquet and people sat in nearly
every class room plus the fellowship room to enjoy the good food prepared
by members of the congregation.
Heartfelt Banquet in February.
Several members and guests enjoyed the cool jazz sounds of DJ Frederic
Little while partaking of the delicious meal prepared by Perfect Catering,
Mrs. Lisa Kean. Over $275 was raised from a cake auction to support the
youth mission trip to Mexico.
The ministry has coordinated the
Wednesday evening JAM meals through getting several groups of people to
take a night as part of their personal church ministries.
Ladies Banquet. Mrs. Dixie Dever once again planned a delightful occasion for
mothers and daughters to have a special time of fellowship in late April.
Father and Son special event. Plans
are being formed to go to a local restaurant and then to a local sporting
event in early June.
Marx Wolf Golf
Outing. There were six foursomes of golfers who challenged the Redstone
course last September. The weather was really great and Carolyn Wolf did a
fantastic job of keeping soft drinks and water and snacks furnished to
participants.
Also, in the Biblically Functioning Community, times arise
when physical needs develop and the Fellowship and Caring Ministry have
support structures to help meet the needs.
Special Assistance to Lift The Body
(SALT) - All HCC Deacons are assigned the
responsibility to pay special attention to and seek out ways to help the
widows and elderly members of HCC.
Membership Assistance (Benevolence)
- We continue to provide and address many pressing benevolence needs within
our congregation.
High School
Students Send-off Baskets - A laundry basket is placed in the foyer for
each graduating senior high student. The HCC family fills them with a
variety of items as a love gift for those young adults beginning a new
phase of their life.
Plans for the
upcoming year include continuing to coordinate and provide many church
activities, continue to develop and implement programs to help meet the
needs of the membership at HCC, and help to continue the growth of HCC into
a biblically functioning community.
